Lauren Perlman, MSW
Executive Director

Lauren Perlman joined CJFS as Executive Director in March of 2011 and has spent her professional life as a Jewish Communal Service worker. A Memphis native, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University.

After earning her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, Lauren began her career at CJFS in 1992 as a staff social worker. For 8 years she provided counseling, case management and financial assistance to the clients of CJFS. She created new community collaborations with the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School and developed group programming for parents and “Single-Again” adults. Lauren honed her administrative skills as the Director of Advancement for the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School, responsible for fundraising events, marketing and recruitment.

“I am passionate about the Birmingham Jewish Community. We are small and close-knit and truly take care of one another. It is my honor to be leading CJFS in our role as caregiver for the community. There will always be those in need, whether it be a need for empathy and emotional support, a need to help a senior remain independent, or a need for financial assistance and CJFS will be there ready to help with a generous heart and a healing hand.”
