Restore the Store
Collat Jewish Family Services (CJFS) offers needy residents of Birmingham an opportunity to receive kosher style foods. We think of this as our way of helping our community, and we always welcome volunteers!
We can use volunteer assistance to stock the store, move food from one building to another, and to place food in order so clients don't confuse the peaches with the peas. If you know someone who might qualify for a visit to our Food Closet, please have them make an appointment by callling (205) 879-3438.
The needs change on a weekly basis, and are updated via e-mail. Please sign up at the left side of this page to access the latest information about our Food Closet.
Over 600 different people visited the CJFS Food Closet last year. THANK YOU for helping us remember that hunger never takes a holiday; you help us serve people whose lives are made better with your donations.

TLC Day 2007 a huge success!
Did you know Collat Jewish Family Services was part of a history-making group Sunday, November 4? In 2007, Teens Lend a Caring Hand- Tikkun Olam v’Chesed (“Repairing the World with Kindness”):
Served more seniors than ever before; 28 families all over the city of Birmingham.
Teens worked longer than they ever have previously.
TV covered our event. Hope you caught the Channel 42 news story at 10:00 PM
Teens decided overwhelmingly that they wanted to make TLC more than an annual event.
Do you know what we have to say to that?
THANK YOU!
Know what else we have to say?
Let’s do it again!
Please mark your calendars for the last day of Daylight Savings Time in 2008. Look for updates from Collat Jewish Family Service’s council of Teen Volunteers.
THANKS!
